🔑 What is an Authorization Code? / 什么是授权码？

Aliyun Mail (阿里云邮箱) uses an Authorization Code (授权码) instead of your regular password for third-party app access. This is a special password that allows apps like EmailWatch to securely access your email without knowing your login password.

阿里云邮箱使用授权码（而非您的登录密码）来允许第三方应用访问您的邮箱。授权码是一个特殊的密码，允许EmailWatch等应用安全地访问您的邮件，而无需知道您的登录密码。

⚠️

Important: You must generate an Authorization Code in your Aliyun Mail settings. Your regular login password will NOT work for IMAP access.

重要提示：您必须在阿里云邮箱设置中生成授权码。您的登录密码无法用于IMAP访问。

Sign In to Aliyun Mail

Access your Aliyun Mail account via web browser

Sign in with your aliyun.com email address and password.

Open Settings

Navigate to the account security or IMAP settings

Once logged in to Aliyun Mail:

  • Click Settings (设置) in the top-right area
  • Navigate to Account Security (账户安全) or POP3/IMAP/SMTP section
  • Look for Client Authorization Code (客户端授权码)

Tip: The settings may be at: Settings > Account Security > Third-party Client Access

Enable IMAP Service

Turn on third-party email access

In the IMAP/SMTP settings:

  • Find IMAP/SMTP Service (IMAP/SMTP服务)
  • Click Enable (开启) if it's not already enabled
  • Aliyun may ask you to verify your identity via SMS or security question

Generate Authorization Code

Create your special IMAP password

After enabling IMAP service:

  • Click Generate Authorization Code (生成授权码) or Set Client Password (设置客户端密码)
  • Complete any identity verification if prompted
  • Aliyun Mail will display your authorization code

Enter the Authorization Code in EmailWatch
在EmailWatch中输入授权码
Complete your email setup in the app

Now open the EmailWatch app and add your Aliyun Mail account:

  • Go to Add Email Account in the app
  • Select Aliyun Mail or Other IMAP
  • Enter your email address (e.g., [email protected])
  • In the password field, paste your Authorization Code (NOT your login password)
  • Tap Connect or Save

Frequently Asked Questions / 常见问题

Is this the same as Alibaba Enterprise Mail? / 这和阿里企业邮箱一样吗？

No. This guide is for personal aliyun.com accounts. If you have an Alibaba Enterprise Mail account (e.g., [email protected]), the IMAP server may be different (imap.qiye.aliyun.com). Check with your IT administrator.

Why can't I use my regular password? / 为什么不能使用登录密码？

Aliyun Mail requires an Authorization Code for security. This protects your main account - even if the code is compromised, your login password remains safe.

阿里云邮箱出于安全考虑要求使用授权码。这样可以保护您的账号安全——即使授权码泄露，您的登录密码仍然是安全的，您可以随时撤销授权码。

What if I lost my Authorization Code? / 授权码丢失怎么办？

You can generate a new Authorization Code at any time in Aliyun Mail settings. You can also manage and delete old authorization codes from there.

I can't find the IMAP settings / 找不到IMAP设置

Aliyun Mail may require you to first enable third-party client access in your account security settings before the IMAP option appears. Check Settings > Account Security.
